Frederick Moody Boateng, an 18 year old teenager was stabbed to death on the streets of south London
on Thursday 17 July. He was a quiet, handsome young man with a bright future ahead of him. He was
his mother's only son. Freddy was the 21st person to die violently in London so far this year.
He was stabbed to death in South Lambeth, near his home.
Mary Moody said Frederick was a much-loved son stabbed to death after a row over a water fight has
spoken of the "senseless and meaningless loss." His mother Mary Moody, spoke as about
300 people gathered for a vigil at the scene of the murder on Guildford Road.
A line of water guns were left on Guildford Road along with more than 50 bunches of flowers and
notes from friends.
Ms Moody said he was a much-loved son who "filled our lives with cheerfulness, laughter and
joy". "We are extremely devastated by this tragic, senseless and meaningless loss at the
tender age of 18," she added. "We draw strength from the love and care he lavished on
us. We take courage from the memories of a good man who stood out for his good character."

Church ministers from across south London attended the vigil on 24 July and several of them called
for an end to knife crime.
One said: "We as a society have to rally against knife and gun crime. Our young people must
stop taking the law into their own hands."
The family led the mourners on an "anti-knife crime march" in memory of Mr Moody Boateng.
Many of them donned orange T-shirts for the third-of-a-mile (480 metres) walk, to Stockwell Tube
station and back, as it was the teenager's favourite colour.
Two of his college friends held up a large banner, with the words: "In memory of Freddie!
Please stop the knife crime."
Mr Moody Boateng, a former business student at Kingston College, became the 21st teenager to die in
violent circumstances in London this year.

Your soul shall rest in peace but we wont.In time mourning shall turn to sorrow, but you will be in our heart forever. The dear Lord has decieded to take you away. There may have been reason but at least we know you at peace. You touched all of us.....and i know some shall find it hard but we shall all meet again.
Its disgusting that this is going on, i hope they catch the cowards that did this and do exactly the same to them. they do not deserve to live on this earth wtih decent human beings. people who carry or use knives should be given a life sentence!!!!!
this should not be going on
Condolences to the family
A teenager has been stabbed to death outside a row of £1million homes - the 21st to be killed in London this year.
Frederick Moody, 18, was ambushed close to a senior politician's house and left to die in front of his young sister. Witnesses claimed they had heard the killers shout 'leave him for dead' before fleeing the scene in Guildford Road, Stockwell on bicycles.
A 16-year-old was arrested this morning in Brixton over the killing. Frederick, known as Freddy, stumbled down the road before collapsing from stomach wounds. It is the fifth teenage knife killing in less than a month and comes after a major drive by Met commissioner Sir Ian Blair and Mayor Boris Johnson to tackle the problem.
It is believed Frederick was attacked by a gang of youths who had been waiting outside his home - four doors down from the house of Edward Garnier QC, the Tory shadow minister for justice.
Vida Oblitey, a neighbour who described Freddy as like a son to her, said she had been with his mother when he died in hospital last night. She said: 'Freddy was a very handsome boy, a lovely boy - and whoever has done this has taken the only son away from a very happy family.'
Ms Oblitey, 52, added: 'I had just come home from work and got a call from my kids - they said Freddy had been stabbed. After rushing back I phoned Freddy's mother, who I was with until 5am this morning. I had been at the hospital with her and we were there when it was confirmed he had died.'
She said Frederick had been studying at Kingston College. 'We rushed to St Thomas' to meet his mother. Frederick was in a very bad way. We do not know anything about the attack, only that there was a knock on Frederick's door.'
He had just left his home when he was attacked shortly after 7pm. Residents, including local GP Dr Balaz, desperately tried to treat the teenager before paramedics arrived. He was declared dead at 10.15pm.
Cynthia Smith, who lives opposite the scene, told how she first thought it was her son who had been stabbed, as she ran into the street. She said: 'I thought it was him. I was panicking, shaking. I ran into the road and saw the boy. It was not my son.
'He was lying there on the pavement. There was not much blood - it was internal. It was a horrible moment. My friend Evelyn had her hands on him, putting pressure on, trying to stop the bleeding. He had his eyes open and was talking to the police. I don't know what he was saying.
'When I first saw him I thought he was dead. The paramedics were working on him for about an hour, putting the oxygen mask on and pumping his chest.'
Another witness and neighbour, Sharon Smith, 23, said she and her boyfriend ran out of her house after hearing shouts and screams. She said: 'He was murmuring and his eyes were just rolling into the back of his head. We were trying to keep him with us.'
Friends today told how Frederick had just finished his studies and was trying to enter a construction trade apprenticeship scheme. A family friend said: 'I am a decorator and he had asked me for a reference as he was planning to go into the construction trade. He wanted to start on some kind of project.
'He had been in a bit of trouble when he was younger but he wanted to better himself. He wanted to work. He was a good, genuine guy. He was fun-loving and a lot of people loved him. He was not a trouble maker. His life was snatched away.'
Mr Garnier, the MP for Harborough since 1992, has a daughter and two sons, and lives with his wife Anna. He today demanded more police be put on the streets to tackle the wave of stabbings.
He said: 'One never expects fatalities to take place in one's own street. There are no streets in London which are immune to crime but this is a particularly shocking and terrible crime because the poor teenager has been killed. It's terrible and I feel very sorry for his family and his friends. The after effects were very shocking for those living nearby.'
Echoing David Cameron's warning of a 'broken society', he added: 'Something has broken. There is something clearly very wrong that it's thought perfectly normal to carry a knife and stab someone when you have a disagreement.
'What I'm looking for is obviously a greater police presence on the streets. There are plenty of police here after the event but it would be interesting to know how many policemen were patrolling the area last night.'
He blamed the fatal stabbings on a series of factors including lack of values, absent fathers and drugs. In May, police launched the second antiknife crime initiative, Operation Blunt, under which there have been more than 1,000 arrests and 732 knives seized so far.
Last week an Operation Blunt 2 task force was announced, which searched 5,395 people and recovered 231 knives in its first four days.
Gordon Brown has ordered an action plan to tackle the issue, under the command of Deputy Assistant Commissioner Alf Hitchcock.
